Hosting for the Holiday Season
The season of warmth, joy and good cheer is here!
Spread cheer this holiday season and host a party that will wow your guests. Whether it’s an intimate get-together or a lavish soirée, make your holiday party memorable with decorating and entertaining advice from the experts at the Hacienda Sarria.
Send Out Invitations Early
This is one of the busiest times of year, so sending out invites at least one month ahead of time is a must. It is also important to remind guests that RSVP'ing is essential for your final head count. As you get closer to your big event, double-check RSVPs and send a reminder email to those you haven't heard from.
When guests RSVP they will often ask what they can bring. Preparing a list ahead of time can help you decide what they can provide, such as wine or dessert.
Decorate Your Home With Holiday Cheer
Incorporate your style into the party’s decor by identifying the look you want. Create one master theme that starts with the wreath on the front door and keeps going to your dining room table. To quickly transform a room into being holiday ready, we suggest adding velvet, suede or tartan pillows.
Lighting is crucial to any event, no matter the season. To create a warm ambiance, make a tablescape that mixes candles with columns and votives.
Create a Holiday Party Playlist
To infuse the party with holiday cheer, without subjecting guests to back-to-back tracks of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” create a soundtrack of the best holiday tunes.
If you need some playlist inspiration, visit Rhapsody. From holiday classics to more popular tunes, they have collected over 70 songs that your guests will definitely enjoy.
Serve Delectable, Delicious Food
Determine what kind of food you would like to serve at your holiday party. Do you want a formal sit-down dinner or something a bit more casual? We recommend preparing food ahead of time, as it helps alleviate stress and gives you an opportunity to mingle with guests.
When guests RSVP, remember to check for food allergies and other dietary restrictions. This will allow you to accommodate all of your guests and ensure that everyone will have something delectable to enjoy.
Having a variety of drinks or an open bar, will give your guests many beverage options. If you are looking to serve a festive drink, look no further than our fall/winter sangria.
Fall/Winter Sangria Recipe
4 bottles of red wine
3L apple cider
4 chopped apples
4 chopped pears
Add equal parts cranberry juice and sprite to taste.
Remember, if you are serving alcohol remind your guests to enjoy responsibly and have a game plan to get home at the end of the night.
Provide Festive Takeaways
Providing a take-home gift is the perfect way to end the evening. Gifts can be simple—individually wrap your favourite jam, truffles or chocolates and send them home with your guests.
If you’re searching for the perfect favour to send home with your guests (or bring to a holiday gathering!), the Hacienda Sarria team has the perfect solution. We have created an arrangement of handmade caramels, Hacienda coffee and dishware imported from England. We are only making about 50 of them and we sell out every year! Our custom arrangements are perfect for friends, family and colleagues. All inquires about these favours can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clearly, there are a number of ways to create a memorable holiday party. Start planning now to make the most of this special time of year.
