Now that spring has arrived, Lisa from Les Fleurs took some time to talk with me about her favorite spring flowers.
Lisa explained that spring flowers tend to be soft pales and pastels, the summer goes into brighter colors and the fall colors deepen as the season progresses.
For spring, Lisa loves using Hyacinths, as they provide a lot of texture and the greenery is beautiful and simple. The Hyacinths have a touch of fragrance without being too strong. Tulips make beautiful natural ‘organic looking’ gathered bouquets, and have excellent greenery that creates a simple but elegant look.
Other beautiful spring flowers are Peonies. Peonies are one of the top spring flowers of choice for any floral bouquet but specifically for Brides. Peonies have a vintage look with soft, fluffy, puffy feminine details. Another beautiful flower is the Ranunculus; they are smaller layered flower that adds a stunning look to any bouquet or centerpiece.
When you meet with your florist to discuss your wedding day or event, include details like your decor and linen choices, this will help narrow down your desired look. Also, talk to your florist about what you don’t like and bring a collection of inspirational photos of what you do like. As a helpful hint, if you start with discussing the bridal bouquet, this will generally determine the rest of the wedding design.
Lisa’s approach to floral design is very unique, she uses garden-style botanicals in a modern design. I believe Lisa is at the top of her profession and I always know when Les Fleurs has come in and created yet another gorgeous look for the client.
Happy Spring to you all!
