Hacienda Sarria Community
Hacienda Sarria Market Garden project is a volunteer-driven initiative meant to develop an inclusive, hands-on learning environment to demonstrate, promote and share knowledge about sustainable local food production and environmental stewardship. Hacienda Sarria has offered The Working Centre a unique arrangement to establish a productive community market garden on its back property. The land was upgraded with terraces, topsoil, compost and over 40 fruit trees were planted. Approximately 20 000 square feet in gardening beds have been laid out. This project is designed as a teaching garden. We hope to involve people in the work of the garden, as well as teach the skills of urban market gardening from planting and harvesting, to marketing and selling produce. It is one of our goals to also offer harvest vegetables in return for people’s labour.
Join our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program this spring and enjoy fresh, locally grown vegetables from mid-June through to October from the Hacienda Sarria Market Garden. To sign up for a CSA Basket click here!
